Kerala contestant wins Transgender Miss India 2010

Salem, Apr 12: The Transgender Miss India for the year 2010 went to 23-year-old Sabeetha hailing from Kerala, who was given stiff competition from 19 transgenders from across the country.

The second spot was claimed by Manimekala from Salem while Ramya from Bangalore won the third place in the contest held by Salem Trust working for towards the upliftment of transgenders.

The three day event ended on Sunday, Apr 11 with a crowning ceremony, which saw the presence of the Tamil actress Sneha.

In Jan 2010, a similar beauty contest was launched by a prominent and popular activist working for the transgender community, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.

The search for 'Indian Super Queen" was launched under the banner - Twelve Noon Entertainment, which Laxmi is heads as the CEO.

These contests aim at looking at beauty from a different perspective by giving aesthecism a second place while qualities such as personality and a person's ability to be proud of who he/she take priority.
